Tazewell County, IL – On Sunday, April 12, 2026, at 4:10 pm, the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1300 block of Cole St., East Peoria, IL, after a possible human skull was found partially buried in the area.

Cole St. was temporarily shut down while Deputies conducted their investigation.   

The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Division, is actively working to identify the skeletal remains. No identification has been made at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
