Detainee Deposits

Detainee deposits may be made at the KIOSK in the Tazewell County Justice Center lobby with cash or a credit card.  You may also pay on-line on the Smart Deposit website and by phone Monday – Friday 8am – 8pm ET call 1-866-394-0490

Property

Clothing to be worn for a jury trial will be accepted by the jail. Only one (1) of each item listed below will be accepted at a time. Tie, Shirt, Shoes, Suit, Sport Coat, Trousers, Skirt, Blouse, Jacket, Dress, Nylons, Slip, and Socks. We do not release any property unless specified by a court order.

Detainee Mail

All funds received through the mail shall be cashier’s check or certified check. Any other funds will be returned to sender with a note. Do not send cash through the mail.

Any mail not properly addressed will be returned to the sender unopened.

Mail having no return address will not be given to the detainee but will be opened and inspected. The mail will be placed in the detainee’s property bag.

No mail containing gang signs, foul language, abusive language, newspaper or internet printouts, graffiti or contains photo copies (unless legal mail) will be delivered to any detainee within the TCJC Facility

In accordance with the Illinois County Jail Standards: Section 701.180 (b) (2) “All incoming, non-privileged mail shall be opened and inspected for contraband prior to delivery.”

Detainees cannot receive paper, envelops, stamps, pencils, coloring pencils, or pens.

Books & Periodicals

Books shall be accepted only if they are mailed directly from the publisher (i.e. Amazon, Barns & Noble, Walmart, etc.) to a named detainee. Books must be new and not used.

Materials that may be rejected include, but are not limited to:

  • Hard back
  • coloring
  • puzzle
  • tattoo books.
  • Materials that
  • advocate violence or a security breach
  • Literature that could incite racial unrest.
  • Sexually explicit material, including pornographic magazines, nude pictures, pictures or descriptions of sexually explicit activities.
  • Material that could lead to sexual aggression or an offensive environment for detainees.

Detainee Phone Accounts

Detainees can purchase phone time using their detainee account. Friends and family can also set up prepaid phone accounts. For more information, please visit the Securus website.

Medical

As of April 01, 2019 the only medication allowed to be dropped off at the TCJC by family is Insulin & Inhalers. All other medication will be ordered by TCJC Medical Department. All medication must be approved through the medical staff. We do not discuss any detainee medical issues with the family or friends due to the HIPAA Privacy Rule.

Commissary

Commissary is held once per week, on Wednesday. Should you wish to drop off money for a detainee to use for commissary, you need to do so prior to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday. If a detainee leaves his/her commissary his/her family or friends have 7 days to pick it up. You must present a Personal Property Form that will be mailed to you by the detainee along with ID to staff.
